Dictionaries define vision as an act or power to anticipate what will or may come to be. In 2004, Kenneth Choo had just such a moment and committed his life to this pursuit. He envisioned that women would be the undisputed changemakers of the new economy.
With his background in media, marketing and advertising, he made it his life’s mission to assist women to create possibilities and start businesses. As a championing male ally, Kenneth runs workshops, conferences and events in Singapore that empower women through entrepreneurship. He began KC Creative Marketing Pte Ltd in 2015, founded the Women Changemakers Summit (2020) and Mompreneurship Workshop (2019), wrote ‘Mother Industrialist’ and was elected the Singapore Chapter President of Women of Global Change.
Today, Kenneth is Chief Strategy Officer of Consortium 21, a Malaysian marketing and advertising company helping businesses with innovative strategies to take on emerging trends. Here, he recognizes that the limitless opportunities of web3 and the Metaverse, are the ultimate tools to further his vision of empowering women. The Metaverse, Kenneth comments, will ‘level the playing field for everyone, regardless of who you are and where you are.’ As for web3, Kenneth describes it as a job creation opportunity the likes of which web2 could never realize by creating more online entrepreneurs for anyone with a ‘smart device and an internet connection.’
He outlined how the Metaverse and web3 will affect women and entrepreneurship. ‘The Metaverse is the future of the internet: its immersive environment will provide more jobs and business opportunities than ever before. It will encourage more inclusive hiring that recognizes the importance of diversity and embraces the needs of diverse candidates. The Metaverse will also boost economies in emerging markets, thanks to greater hiring/ virtual hiring in the space.’
Kenneth believes the world is out of balance with too much masculine energy, with ‘hypercompetition, emotionlessness, pointless power struggles, and the degradation of women.’
He envisages the world needing a feminine touch: ‘a space of community, connection, companionship, and co-creation in a world that works for everyone.’ Web3 and the Metaverse provide the platform for women to rise to their role as changemakers of the new economy.
Kenneth is passionate that the future rests with women and hopes that the legacy he leaves behind will be one of ‘creating a platform that empowers women with web3 knowledge and skillsets so that they can thrive in their lives and build a better world for our future generations.’
