Paula Reina

FOUNDER & CEO - AUDIOCHAIN

“The Blockchain and its products provide the first opportunity where a technology enables sovereignty and decentralization for us to transact with one another.”

Paula Reina is one of the blockchain’s most prominent advocates, believing in this technology transforming society for the better. She has been involved in the blockchain space for ten years, traditional tech for 12 years, and the music industry for more than 20 years. Today she’s the Founder and CEO of Audiochain, a blockchain company providing tools for music rights authentication, music sync licensing, and a music marketplace for music creators and businesses.

She is also the founder of Proliphiq, a blockchain B2B service company for smart contracts, smart contracts auditing, dapp development, NFT formation, tokenization, consulting, and much more. Paula formerly served as the Head of Blockchain Business Development and Crypto Listings for TRON DAO, Director of Business Development for BitTorrent, and as Board Member at BITS NFT.

Her career in the music industry also drives her passion for technology and social change. She has worked with Interscope Records, Def Jam Records, Universal Music Group and The MusicLand Group.

Paula aims to bring new and existing businesses to the new world of digital distributed ledger technology by way of blockchain, DAGs, Hash Graphs and the likes for a sovereign and decentralized future while continuing to break the glass ceiling for women in tech.

From musical notes to mind shifts

Paula was born in El Salvador in the early 1980’s around when the Civil War started. During this time, she discovered her love of music: it was her escapism.

In 1987, she moved with her mom and younger brother to San Francisco, California. She graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in Marketing and a minor in Music Business and Recording. Paula, now a mother of two boys, continued with her business career and dabbled in tech, which would change the rest of her life.

Paula adopted blockchain technology to provide transparency, fairness and a safety net for creators. Audiochain embodies her mission to create an ever more significant impact in the digital music landscape and much more.

At the end of 2012, she remembers her ‘a-ha’ moment of discovering blockchain’s potential: “Searching for a way to help music creators transact directly with businesses who needed music licensing, I stumbled onto blockchain. For the next 12 months, I ate, slept, thought, saw, and more about blockchain and cryptocurrencies. In 2015, I started my workshops and developed my current company Audiochain. The rest is history.”

Powering people

Paula’s energy and mission have left a profound mark on the digital music scene. Still, she’s also passionate about her role in advocating the growth of blockchain technology and the distributed ledger world. She has helped start-ups and established companies step into and grow their web3 presence over the last decade. These include companies such as TRON, BitTorrent, BITS NFT, and collaborations with Binance.US and other exchanges.

As one of the first female executives to create the “Blockchain for Business” workshops in Silicon Valley from 2015 to 2019, Paula is creating educational courses for online schools geared to teach blockchain for business and decentralized e-commerce. She aims to provide the tools and protocols for industries and individuals alike to grow through her knowledge, information, and execution of those protocols.

Her courses are not for the music industry only. “Being in the music industry for many years, I saw lots of injustice, and that’s why I created Audiochain, powered by the technology that can rewrite that injustice. Average Joes, supply chains, real estate, health, fitness, education and the likes will benefit from learning about web3 and the Metaverse.”

Another essential element of the blockchain Paula feels incredibly passionate about is helping the unbanked. “With the help of cryptocurrencies, my family in El Salvador can now use a sovereign currency they can control for the first time. That’s what makes all this worthwhile.”

According to Paula, the Metaverse provides endless opportunities in the future. However, human behaviour remains the most significant obstacle to mass adoption: humans don’t like change. She says education is the second largest barrier: this is the evolution of our technology, and our lifestyles must embrace, adapt and change with the development of technology and life.

“I’m excited to launch the first blockchain music platform for music rights and music sync licensing,” Paula says. “Many in 2015 told me it would be IMPOSSIBLE. But, it was POSSIBLE. I’m excited for the future about the launch and evolution of Non-Tradable Tokens. Lastly, the future is bright with a dawn of a fully adopted blockchain and distributed ledger technology for a truly decentralized future. The Metaverse is a virtual and digital world that offers escapism, a fantasy and a platform that can provide unimaginable possibilities.”

PAULA REINA’S METAVERSE & WEB TIPS:

  • Connect with someone who is already in the industry. This will be very helpful. Many of us use LinkedIn – all it takes is a message. You don’t lose anything by trying. You can also find many online platforms for AMA’s, courses and also the traditional books. Be careful with videos about blockchain. Make sure they are from a reliable source. Conferences and workshops can be pricey, however, if you have the means, they are another good source.
