For over 25 years, I’ve lived and breathed media, spending most of my career behind the camera, helping others step into the spotlight. But today’s world is different. The power of visibility is now in everyone’s hands—yet too many hesitate to claim it, especially women.
If you’re not visible, you’re invisible. In a world where perception shapes reality, those who own their voice and step into the spotlight attract opportunities. It is not just about being the best at what you do; it is about making sure people know you exist. That begins with showing up, speaking up, and sharing your message.
Women Must Take the Stage
I’ve worked with brilliant women who hesitate to put themselves out there. Cultural hesitations, self-doubt, and fear of judgment hold many back. But here’s the truth: no one is thinking about you as much as you think they are. The barriers women face are often self-imposed. The only way forward is to step out of our own way and own our space.
Statistics show that 82% of people are likelier to do business with an organization if they follow the CEO on social media. Yet, many leaders, especially women, leave this power untapped. Visibility is not about vanity—it’s credibility, influence, and business growth. The future demands that women stop waiting for permission and start leading.
Your Unique Voice Matters
I often hear, “What do I have to add? Everything has been said before.” But that’s not the point. Your voice, your experience, your perspective—those are uniquely yours. And someone out there needs to hear it.
I’m not the only person speaking about visibility, nor the most well-known. But I am an Arab woman from Libya, based in the Middle East, in her forties, with decades of experience in media. That makes my voice different and my perspective valuable. Every woman has a unique voice that will resonate with someone in a way no one else’s can.
The UAE: Land of Opportunity
We are incredibly fortunate to be in the UAE, an ecosystem that actively supports the advancement of women. From boardroom representation to leadership roles, women are stepping up. I see it every day in my own industry—five of my videographers on the TV show DXB Today are Emirati women operating cameras in a professional studio. That’s unheard of in many places, but it’s a sign of progress here.
The future is calling. The opportunities are there. But we have to take them. We must stop hesitating and start owning our presence and embracing our knowledge. Whether that means getting on social media, speaking at events, saying yes to interviews, or simply sharing our expertise, we must step up. The only question is: will you?
Because the future belongs to those who are seen, heard, and remembered—and the time to start is now!
