The future of work is not just about technology or AI—it’s about people. For businesses to thrive, they must ensure that everyone, men and women alike, can succeed. Unfortunately, we’re at a precarious moment where the narrative around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is being challenged. Some organizations are stepping away from DEI, not because it doesn’t work, but because it’s convenient for them.

We cannot allow this backslide. Now is the time for companies to double down on well-implemented DEI initiatives. Businesses that embrace inclusivity create a culture where employees feel psychologically safe, and the numbers prove it—companies that uplift women, foster diverse leadership, and prioritize inclusion consistently outperform competitors.

Women at Work: Breaking Barriers, Building Futures
Women in the workplace face unique challenges—whether it’s returning after maternity leave, balancing caregiving responsibilities, or overcoming biases. The UAE is proving to be a leader in championing women’s success. From government initiatives to corporate policies, this region understands that an inclusive culture isn’t just good ethics—it’s good business.

But there’s still more to be done. Women must be empowered with the right policies—flexible working arrangements, parental leave equality, and career support to break through ceilings that should have never been there. And let’s not forget mental health. Organizations must foster an environment where both men and women feel supported, where success doesn’t come at the cost of well-being.

Success Should Not Cost Mental Health
As someone who has battled imposter syndrome for much of my career, I’ve seen firsthand how the corporate world can drain people mentally and emotionally—especially women, who often feel they must work twice as hard to prove themselves. Success should never come at the cost of mental health. The stigma around workplace stress and burnout must end.

The best leaders elevate others. I’ve had the privilege of working under extraordinary women leaders who saw potential in me, nurtured my growth, and set an example for true leadership. Yet, I’ve also seen the opposite—environments where fear and exclusionary practices stifle progress. Organizations that cling to outdated, toxic cultures will eventually pay the price.

The Future is Inclusive—If We Make It So
This isn’t about doing what’s right—it’s about doing what’s smart. Companies that prioritize inclusivity, that foster environments where women can thrive, will attract and retain the best talent. It’s simple: an inclusive culture leads to long-term, sustainable success.

The world is changing, and so must the workplace. Let’s not let short-term narratives erase decades of progress. Let’s not allow DEI to die just because it’s inconvenient. Instead, let’s build the future we all deserve—one where women are included and empowered to lead.

The future of business depends on it.
