hen people will be able to make their business models
and generate earnings and get a fair share of royalty
from their own data using AI tools, it will change the
future of the world economy. We are a part of that
change.” These are the visionary words of Lubna Yusuf, an awardwinning lawyer, author, artist, and technology leader based in Mumbai,
India, who is relentlessly working towards shaping the future of
technology and its positive impact on our world.

Her contributions to the innovation ecosystem have centered
around enhancing the automotive ownership experience by
leveraging technology to identify problems more quickly and offer
tailored diagnostic services.
She explains: “We have worked extensively in the entire automotive
ownership experience by identifying problems more quickly, reducing
unplanned maintenance, improving customer service, lower warranty
costs through more accurate diagnoses, and offering diagnostic services
tailored to each vehicle and owner. Without innovation specific to the
product designed, we cannot grow. Each project is unique, and so is our
approach towards them.”
Founder of La Legal and Co-Founder of FishEyeBox AI, Lubna is paving
the way for a future where technology and innovation drive growth
and prosperity, while championing the inclusion of women in tech.
Currently, she is working on her next AI book focused on law, ethics,
and morality in the AI age.
More Women in Tech
Addressing the challenges faced by women in tech, Lubna believes in
the power of education to address the gender gap. “Women can be a
part of this AI space from all sectors, and we need to keep learning and
upgrading,” she advises. Her call to action focuses on introducing primary
tech education in all schools and corporate training programs, thereby
gradually addressing the gender gap issue.
Technology as a Catalyst
“We are using technology as a catalyst,” Yusuf explained. Her firm
La Legal operates in the arena of media and technology law, while
FishEyeBox AI is an innovation lab leading the charge in the ‘AI of Things’
for business transformation. The mission? To solve challenging societal
problems in fields as diverse as road safety, agriculture, privacy, ethics,
and sustainability through innovative technological solutions.
Her advice for other women forging a path in their respective fields is
simple yet powerful. “There are multiple solutions to one problem, and
roadblocks only lead to an improved path in the long run. We must choose
the best option present at the time,” she advises, reflecting on her own
approach of constantly learning, upgrading, and innovating.
“Mostly, all users shall benefit from the positive footprints of our
work. The companies and clients who need a personalized solutionbased approach in the end product shall benefit the most,” she shares,
emphasizing the broad reach and inclusivity of her companies and
their innovations.
Lubna shares her hard-won wisdom in overcoming obstacles as a woman
in tech: “Every individual has a unique identity that comes with a set of
challenges. Ultimately we have to make the best use of all resources we
have within our reach and keep re-learning. If we observe an obstacle, it
has clues to solutions. They show us what we are lacking, and that itself is
the answer to the next step.”
From Newcomer to Pioneer
Lubna’s journey is inspiring; with humble beginnings as a newcomer to
the tech space in Mumbai, India, she has driven change quite literally by
making self-driving cars a reality in India. “A drive in a self-driving Maruti
(as Suzuki is badged locally) Celerio could now possibly be India’s first and
cheapest self-driving car in the world!” she reveals with palpable pride.
A Legacy in Progress
In the future, Lubna anticipates an even more digitally-driven society
where consumers earn revenue from their own data, and technology
serves as a tool for innovation and income generation. “Technology will
become a common man’s tool to innovate and generate income in all
spheres,” she believes.
Asked what project or innovation she’s most proud of in her career thus
far, Lubna says it is part of the team realizing India’s dream of creating the
cheapest self-driving car. “Autonomous driving is not the craziest idea, but
of technology that is set to become a reality that will completely disrupt
not just the way we drive, but the way we live. We have taken the first
step in making self-driving cars a reality in India.”
What excites her most about the future is the prospect of AI becoming
as common as a smartphone, bringing about a radical shift in the world
economy. This dream, coupled with her steadfast resolve and tenacity,
are the fuel powering her ongoing journey in shaping a future where
technology, ethics, and inclusion converge to create a better world.
This achievement, among many others, is the outcome of her steadfast
commitment to her business mantra of “trust and faith.” Emphasizing the
importance of going back to basics, she encourages open talks, discussions,
and group learning to facilitate progress.
